Before we dive into the consequences of running your system without a filter, let's drive home what the filter’s job really is.

Every time your system runs, it pulls air from inside your home, conditions it (heats or cools it), and then circulates it back out into your living space. As it draws that air in, it also pulls in dust, dander, pollen, pet hair, and other airborne particles. Your air filter's job is to catch those particles before they get into the system.
